Miami Beach Comedy

Welcome to the Miami Beach Comedy Guide. Miami Beach is a center of activity for tourists. Thousands and thousands flock to South Florida to escape the winter ravages that the rest of the world undergoes. This is both from North and South America. While the U.S. is a melting pot, South Florida is a hodge podge, with almost every ethnicity and nationality represented to one degree or another.

Miami Beach has a special place in this environment. With Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, top hotels and beautiful vistas, it is a top destination. Each year the South Beach Comedy Festival draws audiences from all around to experience top comedic talent in the local theatres. Some theatres that they have used include the Colony, the Fillmore (at the Jackie Gleason), the Lincoln and Cameo Nightclub. This festival has top national acts and is usually sponsored by Comedy Central as well as many others.

For regular performances, however, it has been tough for local acts to break into the area. The cost for parking and theatre space has proven to be prohibitive, and it is difficult to compete with the standardized nightlife of the area.

Though the rest of the metropolitan area, however, you will find comedic options for your night out on the town. Likewise, most of the shows are early enough for you to catch a show before hitting the clubs of South Beach. Check the Miami Herald for listings.
